How fast is the Earth spinning?

At the equator, the Earth's surface spins at about 1,670 km/h (1,040 mph). It's slower the closer you are to the poles.

Going deeper

The Earth turns once a day, and the equator is the longest circle around it, so a point there travels the farthest and fastest. At the poles you'd just turn on the spot.

We don't feel it because the speed is steady and everything around us, including the air, moves with us. On top of that, Earth orbits the Sun at around 107,000 km/h.
